Legion Go

So, I bought a Legion Go and a 1TB SD Card. Connected the Legion Go to my eGPU and we have a powerful gaming machine. Bought a two metre Thunderbolt cable for portability.

It’s a great machine but a very expensive one. 144Hz touchscreen display. The beauty is you can use it as a multimedia device and literally play your Apple Music content whilst gaming.

It needs some customisation.

  • Configure AMD graphics drivers and devices.
  • Make windows automatically login.
  • Reduce the memory consumption of the Legion Go in the BIOS setting it to automatic memory usage (consumes about 256MB) leaving 15.75 GB RAM and relying on the eGPU.
  • Start Steam when the computer loads.

This is a beast of a hybrid device and performance is good, on most modern games high or extreme settings with the AMD RX7600 at 1080p and around 60-90 FPS.

The setup is very expensive. We’ll see how it goes.

If we’re being realistic about the Legion Go, it’s more of a hybrid device, even using onboard GPU the battery life is very short-lived. This is a device that really needs to be plugged into power at all times.
